Justin Humphreys Post-Race Celebration/NHRA Charlotte

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

CONCORD, N.C., Sept. 14, 2008 Race fans looking forward to the grand opening of the zMax Dragway @ Concord, and the running of the Inaugural Carolinas Nationals, were treated to a spectacular weekend of on-track action that culminated with a Sunday afternoon Pro Stock victory for Pontiac’s Justin Humphreys. The 27-year-old Humphreys captured his first career win by defeating Kurt Johnson in an all-GM final round, and he provided Pontiac with its 189th all time victory in NHRA Pro Stock competition.

“I’ve been anxious to get back in this Pontiac,” Humphreys said. “It has Warren Johnson and Kurt Johnson horsepower under the hood, and we’ve had Warren over in our pit area helping us out after every round. This is a huge win, especially to come here to this facility. It’s brand new, it’s our first time here, and the fans were amazing all weekend. It’s pretty unreal. It hasn’t hit me yet but I’m sure it will soon. We’re excited and happy to be in the winner’s circle and hopefully we’ll be back soon.”

Humphreys entered Sunday’s eliminator with the RaceRedi Pontiac GXP qualified in the No. 11 position. He defeated Rob Mansfield in round one with a 6.754 e.t. at 206.07 mph, Jim Yates in round two with a 6.714 e.t. at 206.20 mph, and Jeg Coughlin Jr. in the semifinal round with a 6.707 second run at 205.82 mph. In the finals, Johnson’s car broke a starter-drive gear and could not stage. Humphreys staged his Pontiac GXP, but shook the tires hard as soon as he left the line, and then coasted to the finish line to claim his first career victory.

The First, Last Race - Trailer

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Hollywood Stuntman, Jeff Jensen, rides the new Ducati Terra Mostro from his home in Malibu, California, to the Pikes Peak Intn’l Hill Climb, races it and then rides it home afterwards. This would be a huge undertaking from any man in his mid-twenties, but, at twice that age, Jeff hasn’t figured that out yet. Explore the mindset of a man that thinks he can still ride a motorcycle 1,400 miles one way, then race it in the Premier Class, on a road with thousand foot cliffs and no guard rails against World Class racers and then turn around and ride it home. Why does he think he won’t be humiliated by the competition even though his first and last race on Pikes Peak was 9 years ago? After all, he didn’t even finish the last time and this race, he’s riding a stock, untested dual-sport road bike against the Factory Teams’ riders and bikes. If that’s not enough, he’s doing all this with a broken leg and an artificial knee. What makes stuntmen and racers do such things? Why do they think they’re bullet proof? In his search for this answer, he asks a couple of friends and fellow racers in the hill climb. One’s a former National #1 racer that, at 65 yrs old, continues to beat his own record and has nothing to prove to anyone. Also, the 68 year old stuntman who’s record has gone unbroken for 14 years but is now battling cancer and is scheduled for surgery 2 weeks after the race. This is a trailer for the upcoming documentary feature film that chronicles Jeff’s adventure and his search for these answers with the help of other like-minded individuals.
